The origins of this family company go back to the old ceramics factories in Onda (Castellon) at the end of the 19th century. The town had a great ceramics tradition with a large number of artistic ceramic craft workshops and industrial ceramics factories. GAYAFORES has the know-how of the experience handed down from generation to generation since 1897 to the great-grandchildren of one of the Company's founders.
The brothers Gaya Guinot established the company FRANCISCO GAYA FORES and founded the El Sol factory in 1940, where the manufacture of tiles began. This company was renamed as Hijos de Francisco Gaya Fores, S.L. in 1948, which is the current company name.
Opening of new and modern facilities for the industrial manufacture of cladding, specialising in traditional style products for the skirting boards of patios, corridors, hallways, etc. and decorative items in red clay.
A new product line was introduced: paving. The new facilities and the latest technological advances (new gas roller ovens, etc.) enabled manufacturing expansion from double fired cladding to single fired stoneware paving.
The decade of the 1990s saw a great increase in the product portfolio of the company as a result of its entrepreneurial spirit, capacity for innovation, vast expertise and high professionalism, and the constant investment in infrastructure. The facilities were expanded with new OFFICES and DISTRIBUTION WAREHOUSE.
The company acquired almost 160,000 m2 of new land and constructed a new industrial site, Factory 2, with the most modern offices, robot-controlled loading warehouse and a plant furnished with the latest technology, for the manufacture of a new product line: paving.
Because of the potential of the new factory, it was decided to expand the product range to include white clay cladding. This completed and strengthened the productive and commercial structure to increase the company's presence in overseas markets.
Commitment and human effect as an inherent part of the Quality Policy were key for planning the company corporate strategy, which was rewarded with ISO 9001 certification.
An important milestone was the manufacture of the glazed porcelain product. GAYAFORES was a pioneer in the introduction of porcelain, a novel product, highly appreciated by the most demanding users, which has become our raw material par excellence.
Technology advances have been included in all the company's processes, not forgetting the SAP information technology system, which was added in 2004 as the company's ERP system.
The latest inclusion in the product range was coloured porcelain clays, a result of our daily effort to offer new solutions and decorative possibilities to meet the needs of the market.
INCORPORATING NEW INJECTION TECHNOLOGY, with the first pentacromia injection machine, application of digital effects, contactless decoration, decoration of reliefs, design personalisation, optimum colour management and glaze preparation... and all the advantages of the new technology that means a new turning point in the ceramic sector.
Gayafores obtained the Global EPD (Integral Product Declaration) certified by AENOR, the Spanish Standards Authority, to which it added the Integrated Environmental Authorisation. This certifies the correct waste management from the acquisition of the raw materials, through production, to sales and product distribution by the company.
After constant evolution and new export sales records, the Chamber of Commerce granted the Exports Award. Gayfores has increased and consolidated its presence in various countries, driven by a concern for export that has led us to maintain relationships with over 110 countries on 5 continents.
INNOVATIVE SME Award. The Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness granted us the seal as an Innovative SME for the use of the latest digital printing technology machinery and the technological drive that we have introduced into our manufacturing processes in recent years that have led us to produce increasingly sophisticated products of higher quality, in terms of both materials, and textures and colours.
Consolidation and special growth in Social Networks. We have added LinkedIn and Instagram to our networks (Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest). Gayafores considers that people are important and our aim is to be close to them, showing them our latest news, new products, inspirations and decorative trends.
Celebration of the 120th anniversary of the company's ceramics tradition. And a year of strong investment in the factory, in advanced robotic processes, with the aim of achieving the INDUSTRIA 4.0.
